Our Team at Dr. Zoran Aleksic

There is a reason why people say that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Even the human organ, the eye, is only able to produce the miracle that is sight by consolidating several cells, formations and a fine balance of tissues and water. All of the abilities of the eye, as with any team-effort, come out of a fine orchestration of many different parts working together.

Today’s blog is all about my team, some of whom work tirelessly behind the scenes and other who serve as the front of house, as friendly faces to welcome you into my practice. No doubt, as a team we are obsessed with offering the best service and we are all focussed on the endeavour to deliver the most suitable diagnosis, prognosis and care to our patients. We love to learn new things which can better our ability to treat and care for our patients.

So, without further ado, let me introduce to the individuals that make up my collective – these people are the lifeblood of my bustling practice:

Hi, I’m Precious

I am the Front Desk Coordinator. I am what is known as a people’s person. I enjoy cooking, swimming, hiking, reading and playing soccer, as well as spending time with my family and friends and sharing a laugh. I am also a very patient person who enjoys helping people which is why I do feel that I am good at my job. I am a kind-hearted caring individual that looks out for others. I try to help in any way possible and I am always looking out for my family. I am easy to talk to and a good listener. I have good leadership qualities and I am a hardworking and determined individual. I am able to keep a calm and level head whenever I am in situations of stress. I would like to consider myself someone who can relate to anyone and any culture and background. It allows me to make very personal connections with everyone I meet.

Hi, I am Lisa-Mae

I started working here at the beginning of this year. I do not come from an Ophthalmic background. In fact, my background actually couldn’t be more opposite. I have worked in country-clubs in America and have a diploma in Public Relations. Then, Dr. Aleksic took a chance on me, and allowed me to enter into a position which I have thoroughly enjoyed; dealing with accounts, bookings and administrative tasks.

We are all constantly learning in this practice, which is something I love about working here. Dr. Aleksic never shies away from a teachable moment and that is what has made this experience even more rewarding as we are always learning about new ways of improving our services.

I personally enjoy any procedure done in our in-house procedure room and love observing and learning about the technical detail of the eye. Who knows! One of these days Dr. Aleksic might even let me take the lead (wishful thinking).

On a lighter note I enjoy making others smile, good food and having boogie nights.

Hi, I’m Rianda

I am originally from a small town in the Free State. I moved down to Cape Town in 2007.

I have been working with Dr Aleksic for the last 10 years as an Optometrist and Ophthalmic Medical Assistant. Being exposed to surgical and not just optical solutions to correct vision has taught me a lot over the years.

I love working in this beautiful environment and most of all, I cherish having the opportunity to learn more every day and be exposed to the latest technology available in Optometry and Ophthalmology. The past few years have been an exhilarating as we have always found ourselves in the most cutting-edge medical technology spaces.

Apart from that, I am a passionate ultra-distance runner, and can’t wait for races to start again, the way they used to be. I also love cats.

Hi, my name’s Justine

I am a qualified Optical Dispenser. I started my optical career at CPUT in 2008.

After graduating, I spent the next decade using my theoretical and practical knowledge at various practices, until I joined Dr Aleksic’s team this year.

My core responsibility is to ensure that my patients get the best care and lenses for their visual requirements. I enjoy learning new things and using the most advanced integrated technology to enrich my patients’ experience, and Dr Aleksic’s practice provides just that.

Besides my passion for the Industry, I love animals and I spend most of my free time (and money!) on my furbaby, 60kg Rottweiler and watching horror films.

Hello, my name is Jo

I am an Optometrist with a keen interest in Ophthalmology and have been working in the Ophthalmic field for more than 20 years. I strive to deliver exceptional patient care and find it extremely rewarding supporting the Ophthalmologist. I especially enjoy surgical planning of cataract and refractive procedures.

At home I love spending time with my husband and two children, and we all enjoy running, swimming, music and dancing. If I had to choose a life all over again, I would want to be exactly the same person I am today.

Hi, I’m Ruaan

Although I am originally from Mossel Bay, I have lived in Pretoria, Johannesburg, George, Knysna and Cape Town. I returned to Cape Town this year, in 2021, to work more closely in the runnings of the back-office at Dr. Aleksic’s practice. That being said, I have worked with Dr. Aleksic for many years prior, servicing and developing his website as well as other aspects of his practice since 2011. Interestingly, since working with Dr. Aleksic, I discovered that I have Keratoconus which made me truly realise how important regular check-ups are.

I also opened four branches of Campo Marzio stores with Dr. Aleksic’s wife, Sasha, which we have been doing together for many years now.

Other than that, I love cats and love working at a practice where you learn 10 new things every day! And of course, the view of the Atlantic Seaboard isn’t too bad either.

Hi, my name is Michelle

I’ve been working for Dr Aleksic for just over 4 years now. I am based at his rooms in Vredenburg on the West Coast. When he comes to Vredenburg I do everything from reception to his theatre lists at the West Coast Private Hospital.

I handle everything related to Medical Aid for Vredenburg, as well as his Cape Town practice. I assist patients with their hospital and in-rooms authorisations; I provide quotations and Medical Aid rates to help patients establish their co-payments on their procedures. I submit all medical aid accounts and deal with the claims / any queries related to this.

I live in Langebaan and absolutely love it here; a fantastic place with unique people. I really enjoy doing all sorts of arts and crafts and would like to further my photography “career.” My photos include nature, our beautiful flowers, animals, people celebrating special occasions and when I’m not busy with that I also enjoy baking and trying new recipes for my loved ones (it’s their favourite for me to do as well).
